Mango Pulissery / Mambazha Pulissery

Kerala Sadhya Receipe:

Quantity : Sufficient for 4-5 people

Ingredients:

Ripe Mango (pieces or whole ) . I used the mango piece that we get in the frozen section in Indian Store.
1 cup Cocunut
1.5 cup curd
Green chilies - cut length wise
Curry leaves
Garlic pods 2-3
Red chili powder
Turmeric
Jeera
Asofetida (Hing)
Red whole chilies
Mustard seeds
Coconut oil
Salt
Water ~ 1 cup (as required)

Appliance Needed:
Preeti Mixer

Procedure:
1.  Take the mango and remove its skin to make small vertical pieces. You can also use whole mango after removing the skin. (I do pieces)
2.  Take a heavy bottom pan and add mango to it along with 1 cup of water (as required) .
3. Add green chilies cut length wise and some salt for initial cooking. Cover this and allow the mango to be cooked.
4. In the meanwhile , grind coconut, jeera, red chili powder, garlic pods , turmeric into a very fine paste. Add very little water while grinding as the paste should be thick enough.
5. Add the freshly made coconut paste to the cooked mangoes and keep all this on medium heat . Let this curry boil .
6. Prepare 1.5 cps of curd -whisk it to make it smooth and little runny
7. Once the curry is boiling , turn the heat to low and slowly add the curd. Make sure that the curd does not curdle .
8. Now cover the curry and let it simmer. It is time to prepare tadka for the curry,
9. Heat coconut oil and add mustard seeds. Wait for it to splutter , then add hing and red whole chilies, followed by curry leaves.
10. Pour this hot tadka on the curry and mix it well . Add salt as needed . Allow it to simmer for 5-10 minutes.

Relish it with rice ,pickle and papdam :)
