Ratalyacha Kees / Sweet Potato Hash brown - recipe from Aai's speciality

Maharashtrian Upavas Receipe:

Quantity : Breakfast/snacks for 3-4 people

Ingredients:

Sweet potato - medium size 5
Potato 1 big
Peanuts - roasted and crushed 4 tbsp.
Green chilies - 3 to 4 (as per taste)
Jeera
Homemade Ghee (as required)
Hing
Salt
Water

Appliance Needed:
Grater
Peeler

Procedure:

1. Wash the sweet potatoes and potato and dry them in order to grate. Peel the sweet potato before grating
2.  Take a large bowl filled with water .  Grate the sweet potatoes and put them in the water as soon as grated.
3. After all the sweet potatoes are grated , squeeze out all the water from them and transfer them to a different dry bowl
4. Now grate the potato . Remember do not peel off the potato . Grate it with the skin and also put it in water before squeezing out all the water .
5. Prepare tadka now: Heat ghee in a vok , add jeera . When it splutters, add hing and finely chopped green chilies. Stir for a minute.
6. Add the sweet potato and potato to the vok and mix everything well. Make sure the potatoes are well mixed .
7. Cover the vok for 2-3 mins . Now is the time to add little salt and stir properly.
8 . Keep covered and stir occasionally .  Add salt as needed .
9. Add the crushed peanut powder when you feel the potatoes are cooked enough- their color changes to light greenish when cooked.
10. Mix everything well and allow it to simmer for 5 minutes .

Serve Hot!
